teething at 4 months

Terrible Teething

It started with unusual crying. By “unusual,” I mean inconsolable. Over the past 3 and a half months I have become incredibly well versed in the art of consoling my son. He doesn’t cry much, to be fair, but when he does, I can pretty much follow this and make it all better:

stop a crying baby

I know, I know… I’m incredibly lucky. No colic, no incomprehensible crying. He’s a happy boy!

But on this particular morning there was no consoling. No hugs, no feeding, no changing, no winding… Not a happy boy. He didn’t have a temperature. But he was biting everything he could get hold of as quickly as he could, he was very dribbly and his cheeks were quite flushed.

After sanity checking what I thought was teething with someone with far more experience, I was happy that was the cause. He, on the other hand, was not happy about Bonjela. At all. He made a face like the face I make when someone tries to get me to eat cabbage.

But 5 minutes later and my little fella was himself again. We’ve had several similar episodes since and a bit of Bonjela and his cold teething rings appear to be doing the trick and keeping him happy. Teething at almost 4 months isn’t uncommon, I’m assured. But I certainly wasn’t expecting it quite so soon.

Thanks Heavens for Bonjela! He’s now become quite accustomed to the taste… he gets a new taste, I get my happy little munchkin back! #win
