“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.” (Kahlil Gibran)

Since our trip to Whinfell Forest at the start of the month, we’ve been making a concerted effort to switch some of our near daily trips to the park for trips to local nature reserves and woodland spots. Our son enjoyed exploring the forest so much when we were away and continues to enjoy exploring woodland areas close to our home.

Yesterday, we enjoyed a brief break from the rain that has plagued this week! So we hopped in the car and popped to Hollingworth Lake Country Park. I’ve always loved walking around the lake there, but hadn’t explored the country park area much.

The paths were friendly enough for our youngest’s pram, thankfully! And our oldest had a ball running around. He invented a new game for himself – picking up sticks of different sizes and hitting them against fallen tree trunks to enjoy the different sounds. It was while he was hunting for various sized sticks that I took the photo above – one of my favourites of him from yesterday.

And while Oliver was making music with tree trunks and branches, my husband was walking around with our baby son just letting him breathe it all in. Looks like he enjoyed himself too:

Your little one are just gorgeous. As much as my children enjoy the park they love the freedom of visiting open spaces and forests more. It’s lovely to see them explore isn’t it. #LivingArrows

You can not beat getting outside with little ones. Looks like the baby really enjoyed himself, Kippers the same much happier outside just like his older brother. As for sticks… well you can’t get enough of them!

These are lovely moments to capture – what is it about little kids and sticks though? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of one who doesn’t love a stick (Did you get away without taking any home though? I have a growing collection outside my front door!) #LivingArrows

Haha we did get away without taking any home this time! Only through distraction though. I’m sure I’ll also have a collection before long!
