Exploring the Woods – {Living Arrows}

“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.” (Kahlil Gibran)

Since our trip to Whinfell Forest at the start of the month, we’ve been making a concerted effort to switch some of our near daily trips to the park for trips to local nature reserves and woodland spots. Our son enjoyed exploring the forest so much when we were away and continues to enjoy exploring woodland areas close to our home.

Yesterday, we enjoyed a brief break from the rain that has plagued this week! So we hopped in the car and popped to Hollingworth Lake Country Park. I’ve always loved walking around the lake there, but hadn’t explored the country park area much.

The paths were friendly enough for our youngest’s pram, thankfully! And our oldest had a ball running around. He invented a new game for himself – picking up sticks of different sizes and hitting them against fallen tree trunks to enjoy the different sounds. It was while he was hunting for various sized sticks that I took the photo above – one of my favourites of him from yesterday.

And while Oliver was making music with tree trunks and branches, my husband was walking around with our baby son just letting him breathe it all in. Looks like he enjoyed himself too:
